The academic year 2010 – 2011 for Jyotirmay International School commenced on the 10th of June 2010.
JUNE : THEME OF THE MONTH MONSOON
The students were taken to Jagtap Plant Nursery on a field trip to educate them about the varieties of plants, the art of nurturing plants and also to instill in them a love for nature.
The theme for the month was monsoon.
JULY : THEME OF THE MONTH FOOD
During July, when the theme was Food, the children went on a field trip to the Katraj Dairy farm where they were shown a documentary on the Katraj co-operative society. The documentary was followed by a trip around the place where they saw the equipments used for the toning, pasteurizing and packaging of milk.
AUGUST : THEME OF THE MONTH FRIENDSHIP
August the month of friendship and brotherhood, started with a friendship band making activity. There was also a Rakhi making competition, when children were at their artistic best with a sense of love towards nature as well. Some of the best made Rakhis that day were eco-friendly.
On World Photography Day, the students brought photographs on the theme, ‘Colors of India’ and displayed them.
The students also visited an old age home in Wagholi and entertained the elderly inmates.
SEPTEMBER : THEME OF THE MONTH MOTHER
The month of September saw an array of events. Teachers in Mathematics went for a workshop to Sagar Plaza conducted by Hot Maths.
The theme for month being, “ The hand that rocks the cradle”( Mother), the students were taken on a field trip to a museum in Jadhavgadh named “Aai”, dedicated by the curator to his mother. During the same month, children made certificates for their mothers declaring them as the World’s Best Mom. Teacher’s Day was celebrated where the children showcased their best talents to entertain their facilitators. The students of Grade 3 and below visited a gym in Kalyani Nagar where they saw various equipments used to train one’s body. They were also informed on the need for eating a healthy diet for physical fitness.
OCTOBER : THEME OF THE MONTH - ENTERTAINMENT.
The activities that took place in the month of October were quite vibrant and colorful as it blended very well with the theme because October itself being the month of festivals. It all started with celebrating Gandhi Jayanti were the primary students drew sketches of Mahatma Gandhi while the elder ones enjoyed aQuiz session on Gandhi.
It wasmfollowed with Dandiya, where children played Garbha and Dandiya. The true colours of entertainment reached its peak with the onset of another colourful festival, Diwali, during which the children learnt to make Toran’s and played several games like Four Corners and so on. The school got some of its very best chefs with the celebration of World Food Day as the children brought various food materials and cooked themselves in school
NOVEMBER : THEME OF THE MONTH - OUR PLANET
The students were taken to SUZLON on a field trip to tell them how we can produce alternate sources of energy. They also learnt about the various energy saving systems to save our planet. A Fun Fair was organized on the occasion of Children's Day where a number of stalls were put like food stalls, games etc
DECEMBER : THEME OF THE MONTH - UNITED WE STAND
The month began with the celebration of World Aids Day where children participated in the Slogan writing competition. Students gave speeches on various personalities who were physically challenged and empathized with them, as a part of the Physically Handicap Day. The last event for the month was the Annual Day .
JANUARY : THEME OF THE MONTH - INCREDIBLE INDIA
On the Republic Day, there was an incredible Yoga demonstration by the students of primary while the elder ones presented a mass drill. On the ‘World Laughter Day’ in the same month, the primary students dressed themselves in funny costumes and the elder ones narrated funny incidents and jokes. A field trip was arranged to the Joshi Museum where the students were delighted to see the miniature form of railways and and the city.
FEBRUARY : THEME OF THE MONTH - ENVIRONMENT
The month saw a wonderful Science Exhibition where the students came up with some of their best chart presentations, models and experiments based on various scientific concepts.
MARCH : THEME OF THE MONTH - COUNTRIES
The month began with the celebration of International Women's Day where students spoke about famous women personalities and their achievements in various walks of life that stretched to the entire month. The movie Sea Biscuit was screened for the students on behalf of the World Disable Day. The World Earth Day was celebrated with the students participating in Slogan writing and Painting.
APRIL : The academic year ended in the month of April with the Final Exams.
